Consultation has now closed. Thankyou for your feedback.
The Emergency Management Act 1986 requires municipal Councils to prepare and maintain a Municipal Emergency Management Plan (MEMP). The MEMP has been developed to assist the community to prepare for, respond to and recover from emergency events.
Section 21A of the Act requires that at least once every three years an audit is undertaken by the Victorian State Emergency Service (SES) to assess whether Council’s plan complies with the guidelines issued by the Chief Officer of the SES. Maroondah’s plan was last audited by the SES in 2017 and was found to fully comply with the audit process.
The audit preparation for the current Municipal Emergency Management Plan began in July 2019, which involves Council, in partnership with the Municipal Emergency Management Planning Committee, undertaking a review of the plan.
Following the community consultation stage, the audit assessment is due to take place on 12 March 2020.
