Consultation has concluded
Consultation has now closed and we thank you for your feedback. We will be reviewing all of our consultation responses and will update this page soon.
Council is looking to the future to ensure we are best placed to cater for the parking needs of our community, and we invite you to have your say.
Following community consultation for the development of the Maroondah 2040 Community Vision, Council has developed a Draft Maroondah Parking Framework. The framework takes into account the views and priorities expressed by our community and outlines how Council will manage and plan for future parking needs. The document:
describes Council’s vision for the management of parking;
identifies relevant policies and considerations that will inform decisions about parking;
supports the development of an action plan to help Council meet its objectives and responsibilities in relation to parking.
Council will undertake a series of key actions to support the Framework, over the next three years. These will include:
Parking guidelines for specific land use areas
Enhancing traffic safety
Increasing the use of sustainable transport modes
Developing a Maroondah Car Share Policy
Adopting a best practice approach to dealing with parking complaints and safety concerns
Developing car parking contributions scheme in the Ringwood Metropolitan Activity Centre
Investigating paid parking schemes
Reviewing the parking management strategy around Maroondah Hospital
Addressing overflow parking issues across the municipality.
A copy of the Maroondah Parking Framework is also available to view at our Council Service Centre in Braeside Avenue, Ringwood.

In 2011, Maroondah had 107,320 residents and nearly 64,150
cars. This is expected to change dramatically by 2026, with predictions that
Maroondah’s population will reach 124,490 residents, who will own around 76,300
cars.
If these forecasts are correct, Maroondah’s resident
vehicles will have grown by 19 percent in 15 years – three percent faster than the
forecast rate of population growth over the same period.
Put simply, the number
of cars in Maroondah is growing more rapidly than our population.
