Consultation has concluded
Consultation on the Waste and Resource Recovery Strategy has now closed. We will provide further updates on this page once all feedback has been reviewed.
Council currently provides a landfill, recycling and garden organics wheelie bin collection and processing service to over 44,000 households. Each year, the average Maroondah household produces 451kg of waste which is sent to landfill.
By developing a draft Waste, Litter and Resource Recovery Strategy we can continue to respond to both the challenges and opportunities presented by our growing community and changes to the Waste Industry.
Development of the strategy intends to:
Guide Council in planning how waste is managed into the future
Identify ways Council and the community can work together to achieve a sustainable reduction in waste for the future
Develop a long term shared vision with the community for waste management
We sought feedback on a range of elements to help inform the development of a draft Waste and Resource Recovery Strategy, these included:
satisfaction with the services we currently provide
future services
recycling priorities
support to reduce waste.
Further information
Consultation has now closed.
