Maroondah is home to shopping strips and business precincts that host a range of street activities. These activities bring our community together are an integral part of Maroondah’s unique character.

About the Policy

The Street Activities Policy outlines when and how to trade on Council land and the types of activities permitted. The policy was developed to maintain the balance between commercial and fundraising activities and ensure a safe and enjoyable experience on Maroondah’s streets and commercial precincts.

Council is dedicated to responding to the changing needs of the community and traders to maintain this balance and ensure clear and unobstructed access for all people to move through Maroondah.

Activities covered in the policy include the use of tables, chairs, shade shelters, umbrellas, free-standing barrier screens, pot plants, planter boxes and a-frame signs, goods on display, street performance (busking), and fundraising.

Find the current Policy and guidelines on Council's Street Activities Policy webpage.

Have your say

The current policy is due for renewal and we want to hear from traders, shoppers and the community about their experience with street activities in Maroondah to help shape the updated policy.

You can also speak to the team at an in-person community consultation pop-up event.
