Amendment C142maro - Proposed Permanent Heritage Overlay at 35 Alto Avenue Croydon

Maroondah City Council has prepared Amendment C142maro to the Maroondah Planning Scheme. Amendment C142maro proposes to introduce permanent heritage controls to 35 Alto Avenue Croydon.

Council undertook a heritage assessment of the site and identified the property to be of architectural, aesthetic, and historical significance to the Maroondah municipality.

Interim heritage protection applies to the site as part of Amendment C145maro. Amendment C145maro was gazetted on 30 July 2021. The Amendment extends the expiry date of the interim Heritage Overlay (HO147) controls that apply to 35 Alto Avenue, Croydon, until 30 January 2022.

A copy of the Amendment can be inspected, free of charge, at the Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning website at www.planning.vic.gov.au/public-inspection or by contacting 1800 789 386 to arrange a time to view the Amendment documentation.

A copy of the Amendment can also be inspected, free of charge, at the Maroondah City Council website http://www.maroondah.vic.gov.au or during office hours at the offices of the Maroondah City Council, Realm, 179 Maroondah Highway, Ringwood.

The Amendment was placed on public exhibition from 26 October 2020 to 30 November 2020.

Submissions for Amendment C142maro have now closed.

Updates- Council adoption

Council resolved on 24 May 2021 to adopt Amendment C142maro to the Maroondah Planning Scheme in accordance with the Panel’s recommendation.

Following adoption of the Amendment Council has requested approval of the Amendment by the Minister.

Panel hearing and report

Following the Panel hearing, Council received the Panel report for Amendment C142maro.

An Independent Planning Panel considered the submissions received to the Maroondah Planning Scheme Amendment C142maro and made recommendations to Council.

The panel hearing was a public event held on 13 April 2021 by video conference.
