Help us plan for the future of Croydon

Council is preparing a new Structure Plan for Croydon Major Activity Centre. Share your local perspectives and ideas to help Croydon be a great place to live, work and visit.

Developing the structure plan

As a Major Activity Centre (MAC), Croydon provides a suburban focal point for services, employment, housing, public transport, and social interaction.

Activity centres are important elements of Melbourne’s long-term plan to encourage and manage growth sustainably. You can learn more about the role of activity centres by visiting https://www.planning.vic.gov.au/policy-and-strategy/activity-centres/activity-centres-overview

In 2006, Maroondah City Council prepared the first Structure Plan for Croydon. A lot has happened since then. We are now checking back in with the community to review and update the Plan to ensure it is in line with current social, environmental and economic challenges and opportunities.

The new Structure Plan will be informed by up-to-date evidence, research and community input.

Consider the following questions:

  • How can we promote the area as an attractive and business destination?
  • What should we consider when deciding on the location of future housing area?
  • Where should higher density development be located within the area?
  • How can we enhance the sense of place and make open spaces more accessible?
  • Are there any other environmental improvements you would like us to explore?
  • What are the priorities for transport and movement in the area?
  • What sites should we consider for arts and cultural activities within the area?

We want to make sure the future plans for Croydon Major Activity Centre meet the community, businesses, and visitors’ local needs and aspirations. We are asking the community to share their feedback on the opportunities explored in the Discussion Paper as well as other ideas for how we can enhance the town centre.
