Why does the plan only refer to dogs and cats and not other pets?
The purpose of the Domestic Animals Act 1994 (the Act) is to promote the responsible ownership of dogs and cats. Under the provisions of the Act all councils in Victoria must develop a Domestic Animal Management Plan which is renewed every 4 years. Under the Act, the Domestic Animal Management Plan only refers to dogs and cats, other pets or animals are not included.
