Draft Domestic Animal Management Plan - Public Exhibition

Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Share on Linkedin Email this link

In June this year we asked our Maroondah community a range of questions on the management of dogs and cats within our municipality. Thankyou to everyone who contributed and shared their views. We received 425 survey responses (see stage one consultation report), which has helped to inform the objectives of the new Draft Domestic Animal Management Plan 2021-2025.

We are now seeking further feedback on the draft Plan and invite you to share your thoughts. The four-year plan will provide a strategic approach to the delivery of animal management services across the City of Maroondah, and includes eight key focus areas:

  • Authorised Officer training
  • Promoting responsible pet ownership and compliance with applicable ordinances
  • Minimising the risk of dog attacks
  • Animal registration and addressing issues of dog and cat overpopulation
  • Nuisance cats and dogs
  • Managing dangerous and restricted breed dogs
  • Off leash areas
  • Pets and people
