In December 2020, Council provided key stakeholders and the community with an update on the Dorset Reserve Enhancement Plan. Further to this update, Council has now developed a schedule of works and proposed timelines for the enhanced sporting
facilities component.

The sporting facilities component of the enhancement plan includes the redevelopment of the current sports pavilion into a new multipurpose community
sports hub. The facility will be home to the Croydon City Soccer Club and the Victorian Burmese/Myanmar community

Proposed Timelines:

  • September to October 2021: Pre construction civil works undertaken. Restricted access via Jenkins Lane may be required by Supply Authorities who will be upgrading services to the reserve. Impacted residents will be notified by the relevant authority.
  • October 2021 to April 2022: Pavilion construction
  • September 2021 to April 2022: Development of pitches and associative infrastructure
  • April 2022: Installation of lighting (pending statutory approval process)
  • Late 2021: Carpark enhancements. onsite carparking will be limited or reduced during this time with some impact to the pathways adjacent to the carparks.

Is there going to be access on low side for disable people, please add the plans, is there going to be a practice part court

Kylie asked about 3 years ago

    Hi Kylie,

The Volleyball/soccer practice courts to the north of the site will provide accessible access. These courts are at a similar level to the building and natural soccer pitch.

There is a level change from the pavilion to the synthetic soccer pitch, and there will be an accessible ramp( and stairs) from the pavilion down to the synthetic pitch.

    Hi Lisa,

Currently there are no design proposals for the playground area as this is a later stage of the Enhancement Plan works. We will be sure to keep the community updated as these various stages of works are undertaken.

The cricket pitch will not move from its current location.

Will there be driving access via Parrs Road

Dorset rec reserve query asked almost 4 years ago

Hi there and thanks for the question.

All public vehicle access to the reserve will be via Jenkins Lane. There are no plans to provide public vehicle access to the reserve via Parrs road. Any current pedestrian or vehicle access (emergency, council access etc) to the reserve via Parrs road will be retained.

    Regards
