Consultation outcomes
Following the consultation period in March, Council has considered resident feedback, assessed the Golf Links Estate tree canopy, and set out next steps for the project.
As part of the consultation, the community developed the vision for the tree canopy in the estate. The vision will guide the planting methodology moving forward.
The urban forest reflects the Golf Links Estate’s history and enhances the neighbourhood’s unique look and feel now and into the future, with a thriving canopy of shady trees rich in diversity, colour and habitat.

Next steps
In response to the feedback received from residents and the results from the canopy assessment, Council has identified a total of 97 opportunities for tree renewal and canopy development within the Golf Links Estate.
- 64 existing vacancies for planting
- 33 renewals (remove and replant)
- 6 removals (no replanting)
Tree works will begin in October of the 2025 planting season. Council encourages residents to read the works report below which outlines the locations of new plantings, tree renewals and removals, in relation to street addresses.
Works report
Please note, routine tree works will be undertaken as usual as part of Council’s reactive tree maintenance program and will not be included in this report, for example pruning, line-clearance pruning and storm response. Residents should continue to report any issues regarding tree maintenance to Council.
Council thanks the Golf Links Estate community for their valuable contributions and their dedication to protecting and enhancing the street tree canopy of the estate.
About the program
The Street Tree Renewal program aims to renew the tree plantings in streets and neighbourhoods where the current street trees:
- do not conform to standard growth behaviour,
- are not uniform with the dominant species within that street and/or the original planning approvals,
- are coming to the end of their useful life expectancy.
