McAlpin Reserve Playspace and Carpark Renewal

Council will be undertaking playground and carpark improvement works at McAlpin Reserve and we would like to hear your thoughts.

The improvement works will include renewal and upgrade of the existing playspace to include all-inclusive equipment to benefit all ages and abilities, together with the creation of a new play area closer to the amenities. These works will also include upgrading the park furniture and shelters, pathways, and landscaping. Please see our concept plan for McAlpin Reserve in the document library on this page.

Modifications will also be carried out to the carpark to improve the functionality, provide further accessible carparking, and create a new sealed pathway from Wonga Road to the reserve’s internal pathways.

The works are expected to be carried out in stages, the first stage commencing in August 2020. Construction is expected to take approximately 6 months to complete all stages of the project, subject to weather conditions.

During the works the playground will be closed to the public and construction fencing will be installed. There are a number of other local parks and reserves that you can visit during these works, the closest playspaces are at: Mahon Reserve Playspace (off Jull Parade), Towerhill Reserve Playspace and Mundara (Cobain) Reserve Playground.
