Onsite wastewater system strategy
We are undertaking a review of our Maroondah Domestic Wastewater Management Strategy.
The updated draft strategy, in line with requirements of the Environment Protection Authority’s Obligations for Managers of Land and Infrastructure includes:
An assessment of the management of onsite domestic wastewater and the risks posed to human health and environment;
Council’s approach to compliance; and
An action plan to address the identified risks from the use of onsite wastewater management systems (septic tank systems) in Maroondah.
We are asking residents who operate an onsite wastewater management system (OWMS) to review the draft strategy and provide feedback on managing the risks associated with the use of OWMS for household wastewater.
You can view the draft Strategy or complete the survey to provide your feedback. The survey will take approximately five minutes to complete.
Consultation is open from Tuesday 10 June to Tuesday 8 July 2025.
Council will then review feedback and prepare the final strategy for endorsement by Council later this year.
