Consultation has concluded
Ringwood and Croydon Town Square will become smoke free in 2019 under a new Local Law.
At its meeting on 26 November 2018, Council resolved to make Local Law No. 14 (General Amendment) pursuant to the provisions of the Local Government Act 1989.
Local Law No. 14 will come into operation on 1 January 2019.
This means that smoking will be banned in Ringwood Town Square from 1 January 2019 and in Croydon Town Square once opened in March 2019.
Council will be working with the community to ensure people are aware of the ban.
Those found smoking in these areas face a fine of $200 (2 penalty units).
