The toy library is an incredible, effective community organisation that is connecting families, reducing waste, supporting families raising children with disabilities as well as providing high quality toys for development and educational play. The library is one of the biggest in the country and while the council provides some support, they are doing their amazing work without council funding. Funding would secure the library and keep membership accessible for all.

Supports for parents

Parents are overwhelmed and lacking support, particularly as their children age. If a parent is well supported they are better able to support their children. Mothers, in particular, tend to take on primary caregiving and this can be coupled with work. Education sessions are great, but there are opportunities to bring parents together in recreational ways, or to explore a parents wellbeing, which is so interconnected with a child’s but often overlooked.
