Background
In July 2023, the community provided feedback on the current bicycle network, highlighting both issues and opportunities. Considering this feedback, as well as changes in legislation, guidelines, and policies related to cycling, along with the impacts of evolving workplace arrangements and travel trends, the draft Maroondah Bicycle Network Plan (the Plan) has been developed.
The Plan recognises that the bicycle network is a vital part of the transport network, working in conjunction with the Principal Pedestrian Network to create a comprehensive active transport network.
Council’s aspiration is to encourage more people to ride bicycles through the development of routes with infrastructure, which is safe, convenient and accessible for people of all ages and abilities. The draft Plan provides direction on how Council will improve and expand the cycling network over the next 10 years.
Have your say
Your feedback is important to ensure that the Plan reflects the diverse needs of our community, accommodating all cyclists, pedestrians, including older residents, children, and individuals with limited mobility or vision impairment. Join us in shaping the future of active transport in your neighbourhood.
